ToggleYes, The Brass PEX fittings can be used underground, but there are some important guidelines to follow to ensure their longevity and effectiveness:
Protection
The PEX tubing and brass PEX fittings need to be encased within a protective conduit if being used underground to protect them from any potential damage. Brass and plastic PEX fittings are both susceptible to damage from rocks and shifting soil. Use the silicone wrap to protect the brass pipe fittings before they were buried in the ground. And we can use the corrugated or insulated pipe to protect the pex pipe. Related post for the pex insulated pipe and the pex with corrugated pipe, please visit this post.
Sizing
The conduit in which the Brass PEX fittings and PEX tube are enclosed should be large enough to accommodate the size of the fittings and allow for potential expansion and contraction. For more information for the pex pipe sizes, you can go to The pex pipe sizes and pex pipe color
Inspection
Prior to being placed in the ground, a visual inspection of the PEX tubing and brass pex fittings should be performed to ensure no damage is already present.
Away from Hazards
Keep PEX fittings and pex tubes away from any known underground chemical sources, like pesticides or fertilizers, as they can degrade the material.
No UV Exposure
PEX materials are susceptible to UV light degradation, so don't leave them exposed to sunlight before installation.
Remember, the longevity and durability of an underground PEX system greatly depend on a combination of high-quality materials and excellent installation practices. For more questions for pex pipe or brass pex fittings, welcome to contact us
